- When is the best time to plant a tree?
Trees are best planted in the spring, early summer or fall because of all the natural moisture available but can also be planted in the warm summer months as long as you provide the equivalent of an inch or two of water to them each week.

- Do you move trees and if so, how big a tree can you handle?
We have modern tree spade machinery to move trees and can handle up to a 4” tree with our own equipment. For larger specimens, we either rent the machinery required or contract with others to do the job. Go to Tree Moving on this website for more information and pricing guidelines.
- Do you grow your own trees or bring them in for re-sale?
Both. We are currently growing over 2200 trees and over 50 varieties here in LaSalle but we also bring trees in from the major wholesalers in Ontario on a weekly basis. So we are only a week delivery on virtually any product available.

Our policy is to maintain competitive prices with all other bona-fide tree farms and garden centres. If you find a product of like variety, size and condition, we ask that you give us the opportunity to match or beat anyone’s best written quote.
- How can I do some research including pictures before I visit your display area?
Go to useful links to visit educational sites and also Tree Selection and Search on this website for specific varieties.
- Do you sell smaller shrubs and flowers?
Strictly speaking we are a tree operation, first and foremost. Although we may carry a few staple shrub varieties, we are not a garden centre as such. We do however have access to and working relationships with garden centres in the area and wholesalers throughout Ontario and have a strong desire to take care of our good customers. On significant sized purchases of any plant material, we would welcome the opportunity to quote you.
- Why is the botanical name of a tree so important?
The Latin or botanical name is extremely important when selecting a tree variety because there are literally dozens of variations in each species. Generally the first Latin word identifies the main tree family and the following words indicate the specific variety. We can assist you in picking the appropriate tree for your application.
- Are there some varieties of trees that are particularly tolerant of extreme conditions, such as salt ?
Yes, in fact quite a few in the case of salt. There are a number of other species that are tolerant of moist soils and poor, dry soils as well as densely shaded areas.

Yes we do publish a handout on wildlife attracting trees and other interesting sub topics like native species, fall colour favourites and species recommended for growing in Essex County, one of only two botanical Zone 7 growing regions in Canada.

We are not equipped for removing or pruning large trees but anything that can be done from the ground, or in the case of a small tree removal, we can usually take care of.
